#WritersLife: Book Marketing and NaNo 2015 Prep

#WritersLife - Amber the Blonde Writer

#WritersLife, where I talk writing in real life.

I have some awesome news to discuss and also some terror as we approach the dreaded First of November!

Marketing Intern

As if a full-time job, agency reading, and my upcoming novel project weren't enough, I roped myself into a marketing gig with a children's author!

We're keeping it a mystery right now, but I am SO EXCITED. I'm in charge of organizing a book blog tour for the second book in her series for early next spring.

My repertoire is YA bloggers, so doing research on children's book bloggers is slow going. However, I loved the first book in the series and I know other bloggers will love the books as much as I do!

Marketing is something I've done in a few of my "big girl" jobs, although it was more of just copy writing and spreading the word online and in person. With this internship, I'll actually be planning the marketing process and coordinating with bloggers to put this tour together. The more work I put into it, the more I realize any career in the publishing industry would be a dream for me!

Speaking of dreams...

NaNoWriMo 2015 Prep

Please don't tell me October is half over. I still have so much research to do for my story!

It is precisely because of the above image that the research has me panicking. My novel is YA science fiction, so I am determined to get the science as accurate as possible. The fiction I have completely outlined. Unfortunately, I have the science part about 15% figured out.

I met with the Wonderful Eric this week to discuss these plans and he thought they were good--at least, the 15% I have is good. He then proceeded to ask me questions about language, culture, and politics that I hadn't considered yet.

Great, that makes me feel better.

But at the end of the day, what's important is that I write that 50K by November 30th and then finish the novel by the end of the year. With my luck, 50,000 words won't be enough, but once you've gotten that far, you have to finish.
